About Archimedes' Regular PatternsThis kind of Patterns consists of regular geometric figures: regular triangles, squares, hexagons, 8-angles and 12-angles. Each pattern is named by its regular figures. E.i Archimedes' 3rd Pattern (Picture above) has the Type (4 6 12). This means that each joint is bounded by: a Square (4), a Hexagon (6) and a 12-angle (12). I read all this in a book of Hans Lauwerier: "Symmetrie, Kunst en Computers" All the Archimedes Pictures are drawn with "SPIEGELKUNSTENAAR = MIRROR ARTIST" To Archimedes' Regular Pattern Number: [1] ( 6 6 6 ) [2] (4 8 8 ) [3] (3 6 12 ) [4] (3 12 12 ) [5] (4 4 4 4 ) [6] (3 4 6 4 ) [7] (3 6 3 6 ) [8] (3 3 3 4 4 ) [9] (3 3 4 3 4 ) [10] (3 3 3 3 6) [11] (3 3 3 3 3 3 ) |
